TaylorMade Releases Hook And Slice-Correcting Twist Face Technology

Golf is a strange game in the fact that amateurs and professionals deal with similar problems. They might manifest themselves to different degrees, but they’re similar nonetheless. TaylorMade Golf believes it has created a solution to one of those problems in the form of something called Twist Face technology.

The majority of golfers, regardless of level, will hit drives either on the low-heel or high-toe portion of the club face. This creates a “hook” or “slice” action with the ball’s path. In creating Twist Face, TaylorMade hopes to eliminate the variability of shots.

Twist Face is featured on the company’s new line of M3 and M4 metalwoods and essentially fixes the face angle of your club when hitting a shot; hence creating longer, and more importantly, straighter drives.

“So it’s the difference between being able to go for a par-five in two [shots] and having to lay up,” Rory McIlroy, winner of four PGA major championships, explained in a TaylorMade video. “It’s the difference between having so much control in your golf ball out of the fairway than being in the rough and maybe not being able to go for a pin, or having to play safe.”

Most of us aren’t Rory McIlroy, but Twist Face technology is something that could help anybody’s golf game. The M3 driver will be available for pre-order starting on Feb. 16 for $499.

“In 2018, we have once again uncovered a new frontier of driving potential with Twist Face Technology,” TaylorMade VP of Product Creation Brian Bazzel said in a statement. “A radical departure from traditional driver-face design, engineered to correct for inherent human swing tendencies in real-time, giving golfers a tangible competitive advantage.”
