The Blue Jackets have "signed a multiyear deal" with Columbus-based Value City Furniture to be a team sponsor. Terms were not disclosed, but the deal "includes a digital media campaign" centered around Blue Jackets D Zach Werenski. He appeared alongside Blue Jackets D Seth Jones in the "first of several planned video vignettes." Werenski and Jones "showed up to give a Central Ohio family a gift of Value City furniture in time for the holidays." Other videos in the series "will showcase Werenski's experience shopping at Value City Furniture and the subsequent delivery to his home" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/26).

TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE: Dick's Sporting Goods "made a pricing error on its website," and Astros World Series jerseys apparently selling for $9.98 "will not be sold" at the discounted price. The jerseys "usually cost" $135-140, and Astros fans on Tuesday "got the deal of a lifetime" with the sale. But Dick's canceled the orders yesterday and in an email wrote to customers, "We are sorry to inform you that due to a pricing error on our website, we need to cancel your order for the Majestic World Series Jersey. In the event a pricing or promotional error occurs, we reserve the right to cancel any orders that were affected by the issue" (CHRON.com, 12/27).

FLYING AWAY: Emirates Airline "will dump its decade-long partnership with golf's Australian Open," as it is putting "key Australian sponsorship arrangements under the microscope." Emirates Senior VP/Corporate Communications Boutros Boutros said that the airline "had built such strong brand awareness in Australia ... it no longer needed the same number of dedicated sponsorships" in the country. Emirates "plans to rely more on sporting partnerships with global exposure, and less on those catering to specific markets." Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy are among the winners of the Australian Open while Emirates sponsored the event (THE AUSTRALIAN, 12/28).
