Storm Warning: Miami Sells Record Number of Season Tickets For Men's Basketball

The Univ. of Miami men's basketball team, which is currently ranked No. 6 in the AP poll with a 9-0 record, has "sold out season tickets for the third consecutive year" at Watsco Center, according to Matt Porter of the PALM BEACH POST. The team announced that 5,986 season tickets "were sold, ... beating the record of 5,965 set last season." Before the program sold 5,500 for the '15-16 season, "no other sports team at the school had sold out season tickets for a season." Other than suite purchases, tickets "are available on websites like StubHub" (PALMBEACHPOST.com, 12/18).

EVERYTHING'S HOTTER IN THE DESERT: In Phoenix, Jeremy Cluff reported the Arizona State "basketball train is now rolling, judging by the team's 10-0 start to the season and the growing support from the community." ASU is ranked No. 3 in the AP poll this week after beating Vanderbilt on Sunday with "more than 10,000 fans ... in attendance" at Wells Fargo Center. ASU student Alexander Gaul tweeted that the crowd of 10,797 was "easily the largest home crowd of the season" and marked the biggest crowd for a home game since ASU hosted Arizona in '15. Meanwhile, Cluff noted D-backs P Archie Bradley "threw his support behind the Sun Devils Sunday, joining ASU's Curtain of Distraction to help fire up the crowd" (AZCENTRAL.com, 12/18).
