Univ. Of Houston Moves Quickly, Hires Senior Cal Official Chris Pezman As Its New AD

The Univ. of Houston has "selected Chris Pezman -- an alum and former employee" -- to be its new AD, according to Olivia Pulsinelli of the HOUSTON BUSINESS JOURNAL. He will succeed Hunter Yurachek, who was named Arkansas AD last week. The UH System Board of Regents "still has to approve the hire," but UH President Renu Khator and Board of Regents Chair Tilman Fertitta will introduce Pezman at a press conference this afternoon. Pezman comes from Cal, where he "served nearly four years" as Senior Associate AD/Facilities, Operations & Event Management and Capital Projects/COO. He also served as the primary football administrator. Before moving to Cal, Pezman served as Houston Assistant AD/Football Operations for the '12 and '13 seasons. He also "spent a decade with NRG Park" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 12/11). In Houston, Joseph Duarte notes contract terms "were not immediately available." Pezman is the "first graduate of UH to be named the school's top athletic official" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 12/12).
