K.C. Officials Pleased With Pitch To NFL In Effort To Land Either '19 Or '20 Draft

K.C. yesterday "made its pitch to the NFL" to host the Draft in '19 or '20, as officials from the city and the Chiefs "made a 40-minute presentation to an NFL Draft site committee ... and spent another 20 minutes responding to questions," according to Kerkhoff & Grathoff of the K.C. STAR. K.C. Sports Commission President Kathy Nelson said, "It went very well. We had a strong presentation, and showed how big a deal it would be to have in our city." Nelson said that K.C. was "one of eight cities bidding on the draft." Chiefs President Mark Donovan and City Manager Troy Schulte also were part of the presentation (KANSASCITY.com, 11/15). Meanwhile, in Houston, John McClain reported local Sports Authority CEO Janis Burke also went to N.Y. recently to "bid on" the '19 and '20 NFL Drafts. Burke said, "There were six cities, and they'll cut it down to four, and we should know (final four contenders) in the next six weeks or so. Next spring they'll announce who has it for 2019 and '20" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 11/15).
