Knicks See Low Attendance Early On Despite Wave Of Young Talent On Roster

The Knicks "haven't sold out" MSG in their past three home games even though there is "more reason to watch and make noise than ever" with the early season success of F Kristaps Porzingis and rookie G Frank Ntilikina, according to Marc Berman of the N.Y. POST. Entering this season, the Knicks had "sold out 277 of their last 278 regular-season games." But despite the franchise "exuding this breath of fresh air," the team's home crowds "haven't been their automatic sellout selves of 19,812." For Sunday's game against the Pacers, the Knicks announced a "season-low crowd of 17,889," with rows of "empty seats in the upper reaches." Still, Porzingis is as "must-see as any player in the NBA right now." The team "needed a fresh start" from the Carmelo Anthony era and "needed a more team-oriented leading man such as Porzingis." Berman: "Those who fretted Anthony’s absence would set back Porzingis look like fools" (N.Y. POST, 11/6). On Long Island, Barbara Barker wrote under the header, "Kristaps Porzingis Doing His Part To Bring Buzz Back To MSG" (NEWSDAY, 11/5).
