USA TODAY's Nick Schwartz wrote Nike has had a "nightmare start to an eight-year deal" as the NBA's official jersey outfitter. A fourth player on Friday "had his jersey tear during competition." 76ers F Ben Simmons' jersey was ripped in "half under the basket following a tug" by Pacers G Lance Stephenson (USATODAY.com, 11/4).

FINISHING STRONG: On Long Island, Jordan Lauterbach notes local native Allie Kieffer placed fifth in the TCS N.Y. Marathon yesterday, but she is "currently unsponsored." However, Kieffer said that Nike "allowed her to participate in one of their training programs, Project Moonshot." Her involvement "acted as a semi-sponsorship by the shoe company." Kieffer said, "This breakout for me is like a thank you to Nike and everyone who helped me along the way." She added, "Hopefully, it leads to something else and it’s a deal so I can continue living this magical story because the past three months, having Nike semi-sponsorship has been a dream come true" (NEWSDAY, 11/6).

ROADSIDE REBOOT: AAA signed a multiyear renewal to title sponsor Texas Motor Speedway's fall Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race (TMS). Meanwhile, Pennzoil announced its Jiffy Lube brand will be presenting sponsor of the spring Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in '18 (Pennzoil).
