Jerry Jones, John Goff Buy Controlling Stake In CompLexity Gaming Franchise

Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones and real estate investor John Goff have acquired a controlling stake in CompLexity Gaming, one of the longest-running brands in North American esports. California-based CompLexity will relocate its headquarters to The Star in Frisco, home of the Cowboys. The group will begin “immediate construction” on an operations center, production studios and training facilities. Owned by industry veterans Jason Lake and Jason Bass, compLexity has won more than 130 championships in 26 different competitive game titles. However, without outside capital until now, it had faced pressure to keep up with spending on player salaries and new opportunities by competitors. It is not involved in either the Overwatch League or Riot Games’ reconstituted “League of Legends” League Championship Series. Jones in a statement noted the growth of pro gaming is "incredibly significant." Jones: "Between our stadiums, our personnel, and our experience and knowledge of professional sports, the synergies here are endless and I’m confident our resources will continue the growth of CompLexity for years to come.” The search for capital had lasted two years, an emotional Lake said in a Facebook post. He said, “I’m not even sure where to begin. Words escape me while a sentimental tear clings to my eye.” Lake later added, “The end result, however, simply couldn’t be better. I sincerely feel like I’m living in a dream right now. Somehow an old Atari loving linebacker from small town LeMars, Iowa, now spends his days talking football and video games with the owners of the Dallas Cowboys.”
