Marketplace Roundup

The AP's Kristie Rieken reported a $200 Mitchell & Ness reproduction of the Astros' rainbow jerseys in a warmup sweater "sold out during the ALCS" at the Minute Maid Park team store. The navy button-up sweater with the "signature stripes and 'Astros' in white letters is so popular" that it is also sold out on Mitchell & Ness' website. Rieken wrote the Astros' rainbow jerseys have "become a fan favorite decades after they debuted." The pullover jersey "featured various hues of red, orange stripes and yellow stripes" (AP, 10/27).

NEW DIGS: In Ft. Lauderdale, Ira Winderman wrote the NBA's switch to Nike as its apparel partner has introduced the Nike Therma Flex warm-up jacket, which Heat players wear as "hoods over their head" during warmups. Among the reasons for the change was "input from the NBA about the previous look of players wearing towels over their head, a common practice for years." Built into the design is a mesh material that "acts as ear slots." Nike designers "placed mesh over the ears, to allow communication and venting." The hood opening is carved out at eye level, "allowing for greater peripheral vision" (South Florida SUN-SENTINEL, 10/27).

NEED FOR SPEED: In Boston, Olivia Vanni reports Aston Martin has "started selling a Tom Brady Signature Edition convertible." This special edition, which is "expected to be out for delivery early next year, is a Vanquish S Volante model." There are just 12 being made and cost $359,950 apiece (BOSTON HERALD, 10/27).
