Cowboys To Host '18 NFL Draft At AT&T Stadium, Confirming Wide Speculation

The Cowboys will host the '18 NFL Draft at AT&T Stadium on April 26-28. Cowboys Exec VP & Chief Brand Officer Charlotte Jones Anderson wrote on Twitter she is "so excited" for the franchise to host the annual event. The Star in Frisco also will be used in some capacity during the course of the days-long football carnival. This year's Draft was in Philadelphia, while Chicago hosted the event the two previous years. Twenty NFL markets bid on the Draft, a source said (Daniel Kaplan, Staff Writer). In Ft. Worth, Clarence Hill Jr. reports the Cowboys "submitted several bids for the draft, including a dual site with The Star in Frisco along with AT&T Stadium." The NFL "chose the one site local with AT&T Stadium being the primary host" (STAR-TELEGRAM.com, 10/18). ESPN reports the draft site "will utilize the AT&T Stadium field, stands and outdoor plazas, where the NFL Draft Experience festival would take place" (ESPN.com, 10/18). The Dallas Morning News' David Moore reports the Cowboys will convert AT&T Stadium "into indoor/outdoor venue for event" (TWITTER.com, 10/18). PRO FOOTBALL TALK's Darin Gantt notes Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones "made his interest in hosting the event known early on, and it seemed like an obvious fit for a thing that keeps growing, a show that has long since overtaken the substance of what’s happening on the stage" (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 10/18).
