No More One-Size-Fits-All For Riddell’s Custom Helmets

Football equipment manufacturer Riddell is making custom-fitted helmets for players in hopes of improving vision and protection.

Its Precision-Fit technology scans the size and surface of an athlete’s head and converts the data into a 3D model.

“You eliminate that lag, so to speak, when a player moves his head. You don’t have the helmet playing catch up, which is what they believe to be a large contributing factors to concussions right now,” said Rutgers equipment manager Stephen Hale, whose players have experienced Riddell’s helmets. “It’s pretty ground-breaking stuff.”

Riddell has players from more than 40 college and NFL teams on board, and in June announced Peyton Manning as a strategic business advisor and brand ambassador.
