Perth Stadium Makes Venue History With New LED Lighting System

At most stadiums and arenas, all of the action occurs on the field or court. However, that is not the case at Perth Stadium in Perth, Western Australia.

The entire stadium will be putting on a show with 15,000 LED lights that can project team colors, or any colors, around the stadium’s seating area as well as on the roof.

“The lighting component of Perth Stadium is one of the most stunning features of this state-of-the-art venue,” said Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray. “It sets a new benchmark for stadium lightning in Australia.”

The 15,000 LED lights compose the biggest lighting system of its kind in the world. It features halo roof lights and two 340 square meter super screens inside the stadium. Outside the stadium has 1.4 kilometers of LED lights and 43 illuminated arches.

Perth Stadium will open with a free Community Open Day on Jan. 21, 2018 and will host many events in the coming year. Some of those events include an AFLW fixture, two Ed Sheeran concerts, the Perth NRL double header in March 2018, Chelsea Football Club vs. Perth Glory, State of Origin II and a Bledisloe Cup match.

“It is yet another wolrd-class design feature which will help create the ultimate ‘fan first’ experience for all Western Australians and visitors alike,” said Murray. “The McGowan Government is working hard to fill Perth Stadium’s events calendar for the coming year to boost tourism, create jobs ad diversify the economy.”
