Mercedes-Benz Stadium Roof Will Not Be Open For Any More Falcons Games This Season

Current plans call for the retractable roof at Mercedes-Benz Stadium to be "open for only one more public event this year" -- Atlanta United's MLS regular-season finale on Oct. 22, according to Tim Tucker of the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION. AMB Group said that the roof will "not be open for any more Falcons games this season because of continuing work on its mechanization." The roof has been "open for only one event so far -- the Falcons' Sept. 17 regular-season home opener" against the Packers (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 10/7). THE MMQB's Peter King writes getting the roof open "has to be priority one" for Falcons Owner Arthur Blank. King: "Domes stink." Roofs should "never be closed, save for relentless precipitation or extreme heat/cold." The Colts "abuse it, keeping the roof closed" at Lucas Oil Stadium on good-weather days. Blank has to "make sure the problem with the roof is fixed ASAP" (MMQB.SI.com, 10/9).
