Media Notes

SPORTING NEWS' Michael McCarthy cited sources as saying that the debut of Mike Greenberg's new morning show on ESPN "will likely be delayed for months because of construction delays" at the net's new studio in N.Y., and it "might not premiere" until the spring. ESPN in May "announced Greenberg's show would debut Jan. 1." The construction delays "also raise questions about the timing of the network's new afternoon show with Bomani Jones and Pablo Torre," slated to debut Jan. 2 from the same studio (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 10/5).

HITTING THE AIRWAVES
: The Devils have named former NHLer Glenn "Chico" Resch as the team's radio analyst for the '17-18 season. Resch will work alongside play-by-play announcer Matt Loughlin. Resch additionally will "serve as a Devils ambassador, representing the team at community and corporate events." Resch replaces Sherry Ross, who was "fired from her long-time roll in May" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 10/6).

WHAT ABOUT BOB?
Longtime Packers beat writer Bob McGinn is "not being credentialed" by the team this season. McGinn left the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this year to launch his own site. Different teams have "different approaches to credentialing," but it is "surprising that McGinn, even if his website is currently small without much readership, wouldn’t get credentialed." This marks McGinn's 39th year covering the team (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 10/5).

SOCIAL STATUS: Oilers C Connor McDavid, Maple Leafs C Auston Matthews and Canadiens G Carey Price were the players on Canadian teams that were the "most tweeted about" during the '16-17 season. The Leafs' return to the postseason saw the team "gain more than 375,000 followers in the past 12 months," while the Canadiens added over 333,000 while the Oilers picked up 186,000 (CP, 10/5).
