Devils' Prudential Center Now Boasts Largest Center-Hung Video Board In NHL

The Devils have installed the NHL’s biggest center-hung video board at Prudential Center. Produced by N.Y.-based Trans-Lux, the board measures about 9,600 square feet and stands among the world’s largest in-arena center-hung displays. Team officials would not disclose the cost. The board, which is Trans-Lux' first at a pro arena, contains 20 individual displays and four HD TVs attached to its underbelly. All of the components were manufactured in the U.S., at plants in St. Louis and New Jersey. The Devils’ regular-season opener is Saturday at home against the Avalanche (Don Muret, Staff Writer). The AP notes this is the NHL’s “first 4K digital display scoreboard” and is “large enough to fit inside two of Madison Square Garden’s scoreboards.” One of the four main screens on the Devils’ new board “is equivalent to nine main screens in Prudential Center’s previous scoreboard.” Little Caesars Arena, which hosted its first regular-season NHL game on Thursday, had the "largest center-hung scoreboard in the league since it opened in September" (AP, 10/6).
