Yankees See Uptick In Ticket, Suite Revenues For First Time Since '09 World Series Season

Yankees ticket and suite revenues "rose this year for the first time" since '09, which was the last time the club won the World Series, according to Aaron Elstein of CRAIN'S N.Y. BUSINESS. The Yankees generated $236M in ticket and suite sales during the '17 regular season. That is a "modest increase" over last year's $231M, which "marked the seventh straight season of decline." The turnaround "surely pleases" the Steinbrenner family, and Yankees management, although ticket and suite revenues remain 40% "below peak levels, reflecting a decline" of around $150M. Elstein reported ticket and suite sales are "thought to make up half of the Yankees' total revenue." The Yankees told season-ticket holders last month that prices for certain plans next year are "rising by 10%, partly because the team has started charging more for the most sought after games" (CRAINSNEWYORK.com, 10/3).
