Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar Signs On As Independence Bowl Title Sponsor

Louisiana-based restaurant chain Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar tomorrow will announce it is the "new title sponsor" of the Independence Bowl, according to Jimmy Watson of the SHREVEPORT TIMES. Bowl Exec Dir Missy Setters could not be reached for confirmation, but former NFLer and LSU player Jacob Hester, a partner in the chain, posted a tweet which was later deleted that stated Walk-On's "was the 'title sponsor' of the annual contest at Shreveport's Independence Stadium." The game has been "without a title sponsor since Camping World opted out of an agreement two years into a four-year sponsorship following the 2016 game." Walk-On's will be the "ninth title sponsor in the past 27 years." The game will hold its 42nd edition this December and is the country's "11th oldest bowl" (SHREVEPORT TIMES, 10/3). The chain was founded by two former LSU basketball players and includes Saints QB Drew Brees as an investor (THE DAILY).
