NBA Franchise Notes: Carmelo Anthony Left Out Of Knicks' Season-Ticket Plan Promotion

In N.Y., Nicholas Parco writes it looks like the Knicks have "already moved on" from F Carmelo Anthony -- even though he is still on the roster. The team last night made its full season ticket plan available to purchase, and "teased the announcement on social media with a photo of three players." F Kristaps Porzingis, G Frank Ntilikina and C Willy Hernangomez were featured, but Anthony's face was "nowhere to be found on the Knicks' Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 8/25).

MAKING MOVES: In Minneapolis, Nick Halter reported one of the T'Wolves' minority owners is "building up a larger stake in the basketball team by buying out other limited partners." The T'Wolves would "not specify which of its owners are buying and selling their shares, but three limited partners have been removed from the team's website: Coldwell Banker Burnet Chair Ralph Burnet, ATEK Cos. Chair Bill Bieber and John Bollero." The buyer is "likely one of two newest limited partners," Orbach Group Chair Meyer Orbach or Chinese businessman Lizhang Jiang (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/23).

THEN THERE WERE TWO: In Birmingham, Lawrence Specker reports only Pensacola, Fla., and Shreveport, La., "remain in the fight to win" the NBA G League affiliate of the Pelicans. It was a competition that once involved Mobile, Ala. -- but winning it "involves plans for a multimillion-dollar new facilities in both cities." Mobile Dir of Communications & External Affairs George Talbot said that the city "dropped out because 'we simply could not make the numbers work based on improvements needed to the Mobile Civic Center" (AL.com, 8/24).
