Venerable Notre Dame Stadium Gets Its First Major Video Display

Even the most historic sporting venues need an upgrade from time to time. Having opened in 1930, Notre Dame Stadium certainly fits the historic billing. In an effort to build on that history the school has selected ANC to install the stadium’s first major video display system.

The renovation will include the addition of eight total displays. The most paramount will be a 10mm video display featuring more than 4.7 million physical pixels — the most of any NCAA outdoor venue. By using physical pixels the display will feature true HD visuals of more than 1080p.

“Combining Notre Dame’s historic legacy with our innovative technology will create an even more memorable experience for students, fans and alumni at one of the most iconic stadiums in the world,” ANC President and CEO Jerome Cifarelli said in a statement.

ANC will be using Mitsubishi’s Diamond Vision Display System for all eight screens and they will be synchronized with ANC’s vSOFT operating system.

Notre Dame hopes that the displays will serve as better visual representation of their storied past. Said Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick in a statement, “Tradition is the cornerstone of Notre Dame football. The seamless integration of the video display system into Notre Dame Stadium will emphasize our tradition by highlighting our legacy through rich visuals, information, and statistics.”

This won’t be the oldest stadium ANC has worked with as they have displays in Fenway Park along with Dodger Stadium as well.
