October Road: MLB Follows Familiar Format For Postseason Schedule

MLB has set the postseason schedule for October, with the format again following its established pattern of recent years. The World Series will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 24, followed by games on Oct. 25, 27-29, and Oct. 31-Nov. 1 if necessary. The schedule avoids conflicts with "Thursday Night Football" on Oct. 26 and Nov. 2, and "MNF" on Oct. 30. The World Series, if it goes at least five games, will retain a head-to-head conflict with NBC’s  "Sunday Night Football" broadcast on Oct. 29. With MLB's new labor deal eliminating the link between the winning league in the All-Star Game with World Series home field advantage, Games 1, 2, 6 and 7 will be played at the league champion with the better regular-season record. The postseason will start Tue., Oct. 3 with the AL Wild Card Game (televised by ESPN), followed by the NL Wild Card Game on Oct. 4 (TBS). FS1 and MLB Network will share the ALDS and Fox and FS1 will air the ALCS. Turner will have the entire NL postseason this year. Fox will air the World Series for the 20th time.
