Jazz President Steve Starks Says More Arena Renovations To Be Revealed Before Season

Most features of the renovations at Vivint Smart Home Arena have been previously announced, but Jazz President Steve Starks said that a "few more will be revealed" before the project is 100% complete, according to Ryan McDonald of the DESERET NEWS. Starks, appearing on Salt Lake City-based KZNS-AM, said that about 300 of the "new blue-cushioned seats that will replace the old green ones are being installed each day." He added that the building will "undergo testing before a Sept. 27 concert featuring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill to ensure that everything from food to electricity is in order." The Zions Bank Basketball Center practice facility in Salt Lake City is also "undergoing a major transformation and will house the team’s business offices upon completion." The $125M project has a "completion deadline of mid-September." Starks: "That number is seared into my brain and into the brain the dozen or so people we have leading the project." Meanwhile, Starks said that the Jazz' first two new jerseys "will be released soon," noting that Nike did market research in Utah to "help inform the team on designs." Starks also said that a new Jazz mobile app will be "rolled out in the fall, and numerous new features will be released over time." He talked at length about how the app will "become the primary place to purchase tickets" by the beginning of the '18-19 season. Starks said that the app will also "provide users the opportunity to do things such as upgrade seats and make food and merchandise purchases at games" (DESERET NEWS, 8/2).
