Bucks Open New $31M Practice Facility In Downtown Year Ahead Of New Arena

The Bucks today will open their new practice facility, the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Sports Science Center, a $31M building that is a "science and sports performance lab and training center surrounded by an astonishing array of amenities," according to a front-page piece by James Nelson of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The Bucks "paid for the building privately." Bucks co-Owner Mike Fascitelli said, "We wanted it to be very state of the art, very futuristic." Nelson notes the facility feels "clinical, academic and techie" and is the "first to be opened by the Bucks' new ownership team." In addition, a Froedtert medical clinic will "open to the public later in the fall." Eppstein Uhen Architects CEO Greg Uhen, whose company was the lead designer on the project, said, "We wanted it to be somewhat of a quieter building than the arena, yet have some of the same touches, such as zinc cladding. We also really wanted it to be an urban building." Nelson notes Froedtert paid an "undisclosed amount to the Bucks for the naming rights to the practice facility" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/3).
