In DC, Douglas Fruehling cited a report from Domain Name Wire on Monday that Capital One has registered more than 50 domain names "such as 'cap1centerdc.com' and 'capitalonearenadc.com.'" The move indicates Capital One is "close to a naming rights deal for Verizon Center" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/1).

I CAN SEE CLEERLY NOW: In South Carolina, Alan Blondin notes Coastal Carolina Univ. has a "little more than a month to have Brooks Stadium ready" for the '17 football season opener against UMass on Sept. 2. CCU AD Matt Hogue is "confident a stadium expansion project will be completed in time." The university was "required to expand the stadium for its move this year" to the FBS, and seating is "increasing from 9,214 to approximately 15,500 seats." The construction project "began in early March." Hogue said, "We have a contractor that has to meet that deadline, they know it, and so far so good." This year's project is part of CCU's $32M plan that will "eventually expand the seating capacity to more than 20,000" in '18 (Myrtle Beach SUN NEWS, 8/2).

MARKET RESEARCH: Financial advisers to the Louisville Arena Authority on Monday said that they "hope to hit the bond market to refinance the debt" for the KFC Yum! Center by October. In Louisville, Marty Finley noted authority officials "plan to address members of Louisville Metro Council later this week." The arena authority is "seeking a modified agreement with the city that would extend the maximum payment" of more than $10M annually "toward the arena's debt for the life of the bonds," which is through '54 (BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/31).
