Details Unveiled For Scoreboard At Little Caesars Arena, To Be Largest In NHL

The Little Caesars Arena centerhung scoreboard measures more than 5,100 square feet of viewable area, making it the "largest of its kind" in the NHL, according to Scott DeCamp of MLIVE.com. The scoreboard will "allow video programming to completely wrap around the system and create for a 360-degree experience." Forty-five LED displays covering more than 13,500 square feet and 16.5 million-plus LEDs will be "installed in and around the arena." The scoreboard will "have four under-mount displays, targeted to fans who are sitting closer to the action." Those displays will be "more than 7 feet high by 9 1/2 feet wide" (MLIVE.com, 7/17). In Detroit, Annalise Frank noted Daktronics is "installing two ribbons encircling the seating areas -- 1,066 feet long and 915 feet long -- and 15 more ribbon displays throughout the seating bowl." Seven exterior displays will be "viewable as event attendees enter the arena." Daktronics has a "long list of local work," as the company is also "providing the video board system that's part of Ford Field's renovation this year." It has also installed scoreboards for the Tigers and Pistons and "worked on the Fox Theatre marquee" (CRAINSDETROIT.com, 7/17).
