Red Sox Opt Back Into StubHub's MLB Deal, Giving Company All 30 Teams For First Time

StubHub has reached an agreement with the Red Sox for the club to opt back into the ticket resale marketplace’s league-level partnership with MLBAM, giving the company full integration with all 30 MLB clubs for the first time. The Red Sox early last year opted out of the StubHub deal to create Red Sox Replay in partnership with MLBAM. The new agreement with StubHub calls for the two ticket resale offerings to exist parallel to each other. The deal, at least at the outset, does not include any advertising for StubHub inside of Fenway Park, as the initial priority is enabling the ticket resale integration. “We were both willing and eager to do what’s right for the fans, to give them choice, and that’s our focus right now,” said StubHub North America GM Perkins Miller. Since StubHub and MLBAM reached their first partnership a decade ago, several clubs have not been fully integrated into the partnership for various reasons, most notably the Yankees and Angels following a five-year contract renewal signed in ’12. The Blue Jays also had only been loosely included in the league-wide deal prior to this season. However, following the arrival of StubHub President Scott Cutler in ’15 and Miller last year, the company has struck new agreements with each of the holdout clubs.
