MLB Attendance Flat At All-Star Break; Braves, Indians Up Big, While Royals, Pirates Slide

At MLB's All-Star break, clubs are averaging 30,159 fans per game, relatively flat compared to last year’s 30,119 at the same point in the season. The Dodgers, who own the league's best record, are leading all teams at the gate and are in line to lead MLB for a fifth consecutive season with an average of 44,695 fans at Chavez Ravine. In their first season at SunTrust Park, the Braves are seeing a league-best 35% increase following 20 seasons at Turner Field. After a World Series appearance in '16, attendance for Indians games at Progressive Field is up 25% to date. The Blue Jays are leading AL teams with an average of 39,270 fans, up slightly from last season. The Royals have the sharpest drop among MLB teams, while the Mets and Pirates also are seeing double-digit percentage declines at the gate. In St. Pete, the Rays have the league’s lowest average with 15,681 fans per game at Tropicana Field.
