FC Bayern Munich, Siemens Join Forces On Cutting-Edge Technology
The birthplace of success: In 1900, the FC Bayern Munich club was founded in the former Café Gisela, which was located at a corner on Kardinal-Döpfner-Strasse in Munich – at the current location of Siemens Headquarters. To commemorate the place of origin for this club, which holds the record for the most championships in Germany’s top professional soccer league, Joe Kaeser and Uli Hoenes jointly unveiled a stele that marks this historic site. German technology conglomerate Siemens and German sporting club FC Bayern Munich have agreed to a three-year partnership that will focus on developing software and cloud-based services for an array of purposes, notably safety and security technologies for local public transportation, building technology and power engineering.
Siemens systems litter the club’s two arenas — Allianz Arena for soccer and the Audi Dome for basketball — so this partnership will only deepen that technological infrastructure with modern, cloud-based amenities in the aforementioned areas. The partnership also calls for Siemens systems to be implemented at FC Bayern’s offices and training grounds on Säbener Strasse in Munich. And digital technologies can improve the fan experience.
Siemens Healthineers will also be the exclusive healthcare technology partner of FC Bayern, equipping training facilities and the Allianz Arena with ultrasound and X-ray systems that help players with medical checkups and support recovery from injuries.
“Our technologies and knowledge of digitalization will enable us to help the club further increase its success both nationally and international since modern, high-performance sports require high-performance technologies,” Siemens CEO Joe Kaeser said in as statement.
“Cooperating with FC Bayern Football and Basketball will give us the opportunity to make both ‘Ingenuity for life’ and our technologies – which athletes, fans and the general public encounter on a daily basis – come alive for people all around the world,” Roland Busch, Chief Technology Officer and member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG, added.
Bayern Munich is one of the most iconic brands in European football. It has won 27 German league titles, including nine out of the last 13, and five Champions League titles. It is currently ranked as the fourth best club in the world according to UEFA’s club coefficient rankings.
