NBA Planning For Second Hackathon For College Students To Impress League Execs

The NBA is planning to hold a second annual hackathon on Sept. 23-24 in N.Y. in which college student statisticians, engineers and developers will develop solutions and present their work to a panel of league and team execs and academics. The event builds upon an initial one-day hackathon focused on basketball analytics held last September and involving more than 200 students. This year adds a track in business analytics. “Analytics continue to play an increasingly important role at the NBA, and I am excited to see the innovative ideas that come,” said NBA Senior VP/Basketball Strategy & Analytics Evan Wasch.
