Ron Jaworski Unsure If He'll Be Part Of ESPN's NFL Coverage In '17 Amid Company Layoffs

ESPN's Ron Jaworski has been "included in some reports about ESPN’s recent round of layoffs, but Jaworski himself says he doesn’t know if he’s done at ESPN or not," according to Michael Smith of PRO FOOTBALL TALK. Appearing on the "The Doomsday Podcast" with co-hosts Matt Mosley and Ed Werder, Jaworski said that he "isn’t sure if he’s going to be part of ESPN’s NFL coverage" in '17. Jaworski: "I still may continue to work at ESPN. I do not know what the future is going to hold. I still have a contract with them until May 31st of 2022, and if they choose to want to use me in some other areas, that is being talked about with my agent basically as we speak. So I’m a guy in limbo right now. But I do want to continue some broadcasting. I love what I do. I still maintain my office at NFL Films." Jaworski has "long served as one of the analysts on 'NFL Matchup.'" ESPN has confirmed that the show "will return" in '17, but there is "no word on who the analysts will be" (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 6/21).

KEEPING THINGS PROFESSIONAL
: In N.Y., Hannah Withiam noted ESPN Radio's Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic were both "frustrated when the news of their breakup reached their listeners before they had a chance to announce it themselves." Greenberg said, "It would’ve been nice if we had been the ones to tell our audience that we were going to be going on to do separate things. Instead, the overwhelming majority of our audience had already heard that by the time we were ready to tell them. That was the part that bothered me." Withiam wrote the final year of "Mike & Mike" has been "steeped in drama." But Greenberg said that he has "experience putting work above the noise." Greenberg: "I’ve paid no attention to it whatsoever. It actually doesn’t have anything to do with anything. Mike and I have been doing the show every single day for forever. This is not new. ... We’ve done the show through any number of different things." More Greenberg: "Regardless of what anyone seems to want to think, Mike and I are doing just great" (NYPOST.com, 6/21).

RAVING ABOUT RAVECH
: ESPN has reached an extension with veteran on-air personality Karl Ravech, while naming him play-by-play commentator for the T-Mobile Home Run Derby. Ravech will continue to host "Baseball Tonight: Sunday Night Countdown" and lead ESPN's Little League World Series and College World Series coverage. Ravech will keep his MLB play-by-play role while increasing his men's college basketball play-by-play and studio duties (ESPN).
