Media Notes

In Hartford, Jeff Jacobs writes NESN Red Sox analyst Jerry Remy "deserved" a timeout "after his remarks" about Yankees P Masahiro Tanaka's translator. Jacobs: "Not a suspension and not losing his job, but a couple innings of sitting in the corner of the broadcast booth while Dave O'Brien continued his play-by-play [last] night would have felt about right." Remy's remarks "didn't come off nasty" but "absurd" (HARTFORD COURANT, 6/8).

SQUARE DANCE
: ESPN is welcoming Hank Williams Jr. back on "MNF," and in Chicago, Phil Rosenthal wrote the net "probably wouldn't mind if all his rowdy friends who cheered his criticism" of President Obama came with him. Divisions have "deepened in Trump Era America." ESPN "can't afford to exacerbate erosion of its reach already imperiled by consumers abandoning traditional cable TV service." Rosenthal: "ESPN is eager enough to dispel the perception among some on the political right that it tilts left" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 6/7).
