Mets, MLB Honor Late PR Exec Shannon Forde With Baseball/Softball Field In Her Name

The Mets, MLB and the town of Little Ferry, N.J., honored late Mets PR exec SHANNON FORDE on Friday by "dedicating a baseball/softball field that was built in her name," according to John Harper of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. Forde "died at age 44 from breast cancer" in March of '16. She "grew up in Little Ferry and was still living there with her husband and two young children at the time of her death." The ceremony was a "fitting tribute" to the impact she had on "so many people during her 22 years with the Mets, as several ex-players, managers, GMs and executives, as well as a sizeable media contingent, friends, family and town officials showed up to celebrate her memory" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/3). In N.Y., Bob Raissman noted the field built in Forde's name was "funded and built with the over $240,000 raised by an MLB auction last winter." This is another "fitting tribute to Forde, who made a deep and lasting impression on all who worked with her" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/4).
