Orange Blossom Special: Tennessee Gets Improved, Extended Contract With Nike

Tennessee "will be a Nike school for three additional years" as part of an "overhauled agreement between the two sides," according to Grant Ramey of 247SPORTS.com. In a contract amendment signed in October, former UT AD Dave Hart "inked Nike as the Vols’ official apparel supplier" until the '25-26 academic year. The extension "provides Tennessee with more money from Nike and a steep increase in product allotment." The original contract, signed in '14, paid UT $7.6M through '22-23. The contract extension "brings the total compensation" to $11.6M over 11 years. Nike was "scheduled to pay" UT $1M for each of the first four years of the contract, then $900,000 over the final three years. The new deal pays $1M "over seven years," between '15-16 and '22-23, and $1.2M over the final three years. UT previously "had a total product allotment" of $23.7M over eight years. The contract extension is worth $43.9M in product allotment, with an "additional million dollars added each year through the life of the contract" (247SPORTS.com, 6/1).
