Yankees Unveil "Judge's Chambers" Cheering Section In Right Field For Rookie Sensation

The Yankees yesterday unveiled "The Judge’s Chambers," a "specific cheering section" for RF Aaron Judge in the stands directly behind where he plays, according to Seth Walder of the N.Y. DAILY NEWS. The team "added fake wood paneling around three rows of seats in section 105 in right field, and 'The Judge’s Chambers' is written in capital letters along the back of the paneling." Yankees Exec Dir of Communications & Media Relations Jason Zillo said that fans were "randomly selected" to sit in the section before yesterday’s game against the Royals, and that "trend will continue throughout the season." Select fans wearing Judge jerseys and gear were chosen, but Zillo said that those chosen to sit in the section going forward will "include Little League teams or kids and adults from local youth and community organizations" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 5/23). The AP's Ben Walker noted unlike the King's Court at Safeco Field for Mariners P Felix Hernandez or the Mannywood area that once took over Dodger Stadium for former MLBer Manny Ramirez, people "won't be able to buy tickets in The Judge's Chambers." Those selected for the section will get "Styrofoam gavels -- stamped with 'All Rise!' -- to tap against the bench, along with other mementos to keep." Fans will receive black judicial robes to wear during the game, but those will "stay" at Yankee Stadium (AP, 5/22).
