The home of the New England Patriots got a makeover. On Saturday, Gillette Stadium unveiled its new, synthetic turf field that features FieldTurf’s latest monofilament technology for a New England Revolution match.

The new field will be “player-friendly, resilient and durable.” And although the Patriots got rid of grass feels in 2006, the new turf is supposed to feel soft and real, but is more durable than real grass.

FieldTurf is also used in the Seattle Seahawks’ CenturyLink Field and at the Atlanta Falcons’ Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The field boasts a proprietary heavy infill system.

“We are excited to upgrade our game field to the latest FieldTurf technology,” Jim Nolan, Senior Vice President of Gillette Stadium said in a statement. “It is our goal each year to provide the highest quality surface for the both the New England Patriots and New England Revolution, and we were eager to take advantage of FieldTurf’s latest innovations for the 2017 season.”

FieldTurf says its artificial turf is used in 7,500 locations worldwide.
