Dale Earnhardt Jr. Signs Deal With WME To Assist With Various Off-Track Ventures

NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. after an extensive review has "signed a deal" with WME, which his current management team "hopes will help him capitalize on his brand," according to Adam Stern in this week's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. The deal will see WME "assist Earnhardt in his various off-track business ventures." Earnhardt's internal team -- which also includes JR Motorsports Managing Dir of Brand & Digital Media Mike Davis and Dir of Brand Marketing & Partnerships Tony Mayhoff -- will "continue to manage Earnhardt's many businesses." However, WME will "consult on how to increase existing revenue streams." Earnhardt's team "decided about a year ago to look into outside representation and requested proposals from agencies that would help them do a full review of his brand for the first time." Earnhardt's team said that the structure of the relationship is "based off of commission, and the financial split from new deals will be figured out on a case-by-case basis" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 5/15 issue).
