Facility Notes

In Calgary, Don Braid reports most Calgarians are "in favour of a new hockey rink and event centre to replace the Scotiabank Saddledome" despite "all the racket from boo-birds." A Mainstreet Research poll which surveyed 5,061 people found that 50% believe Calgary "needs a new arena." Backing rises to fully 60% if the city "supports the rink with a deal involving land or savings with no tax increase" (CALGARY HERALD, 5/12).

PARTY TIME: In Richmond, Michael Phillips reports the second floor of the Bon Secours Redskins Training Center will be "opened as a party space for corporate or group rentals." The space can "accommodate up to 250 seated guests." The space also "includes an outdoor patio overlooking the practice area." Food and drink are "allowed in the party space -- it will be the only area of the facility that permits alcohol during practices" (RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH, 5/12).

YES PLEASE: Colorado State Univ. officials said that "all memberships to the two most unique areas at CSU's new on-campus stadium" for the '17 season have sold out. AD Joe Parker tweeted that CSU fans have "purchased or reserved all 1,200 memberships available as a $200 add-on to a season ticket for the New Belgium Porch and all 600 memberships available for $400 apiece to the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies Field Club." Combined, the two have "brought in an additional $480,000 in revenue" (Ft. Collins COLORADOAN, 5/12).
