MLB Rangers Unveil Plans For $150M Loews Hotel As Part Of Texas Live! Complex

The MLB Rangers on Thursday unveiled plans for a $150M luxury Loews Hotel and convention center that "will be part of the Texas Live! entertainment complex being built near Globe Life Park in Arlington," according to Robert Cadwallader of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM. The venue’s flagship hotel, Live! by Loews-Arlington, designed by Dallas-based HKS Architects, will be a "14-story glass tower with 302 guest rooms, including 26 suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows giving wide views of Arlington’s entertainment district." The 200,000-square-foot Texas Live! complex is "under construction and projected to open next April" in time for the MLB season. The hotel is now expected to open in '19 (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 5/5). Loews Hotels Chair & CEO Jonathan Tisch said, "What makes this property so unique is its location." He cited its "proximity" to Dallas, Ft. Worth, DFW Int'l Airport and AT&T Stadium. In Dallas, Karen Robinson-Jacobs notes the announcement "marks the return of the Loews brand to the Texas hospitality landscape for the first time" since '95 (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 5/5).
