Facility Notes

SI.com's Grant Wahl reported talks have begun at U.S. Soccer about "building a new dedicated national training center," though it is "too early in the discussions to identify a location." StubHub Center has been the national training center since it opened in '03, but that facility has "become crowded" with the arrival of the Chargers. A new national training center "would be a massive construction project and investment in the future of American soccer" (SI.com, 5/2).

BRINGING IT BACK
: In Buffalo, James Fink notes the NHL Scouting Combine is "remaining in Buffalo" at least through '19. The combine will "continue to use both HarborCenter and KeyBank Center as its home base for the next three years." The combine has been in Buffalo since '15. Before coming to Buffalo, the combine "had been mostly held in Toronto." In Buffalo, with HarborCenter and KeyBank Center "physically connected, all the players and team representatives are under one roof, something that appeals to the NHL and draftees" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 5/3).

HEARD YOU LOUD AND CLEAR: On Long Island, Robert Brodsky reports Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment has "responded to complaints about high parking prices" at the renovated Nassau Coliseum by "putting a $20 ceiling on parking passes bought online for concerts and special events." BS&E CEO Brett Yormark said that all Nassau Coliseum patrons "now will be able to buy parking passes for $20 or less online before shows." Parking passes "bought at the arena on the day of the show still will cost $30 for most concerts and $40 for special events" (NEWSDAY, 5/3).
