National Hockey League playoff teams in the Chicago Blackhawks, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers partnered with Canadian tech company Mazu to create youth-focused junior club apps.

Built within a secure environment with technology that filters out negative and abusive language, the apps are equipped with unique challenges, games, trivia and live player chats so they can have safe spaces to interact with their favorite teams.

“We love seeing teams interact directly and connect with their ext generation of fans in a safe environment,” Mazu CEO Janice Taylor said in a statement. “We’re focused on creating products that disrupt the digital landscape and inspire positive actions amid growing concerns of negativity in the digital world.”

Among NHL teams there are apps for the Buffalo Sabres and Winnipeg Jets as well, offering them places to connect and engage directly with young fans and their families in a socially responsible digital platform.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers also have the club apps.
