Stern, Boeheim Among Investor Group For Streaming Startup Sportcastr.Live

NBA Commissioner Emeritus DAVID STERN, Syracuse men’s basketball coach JIM BOEHEIM and Redskins TE VERNON DAVIS are part of an investor and advisor group for Sportcastr.Live, a N.Y.-based streaming video startup. The company’s live streaming platform, entering into public beta this week, allows users to be their own color commentators and customize their own graphics, providing an enhanced level of audience empowerment. The group is joined by DONALD SCHUPAK, former Managing Partner of the ABA Spirits of St. Louis, and IdeaQuest Founder ERIC BECHTEL. Financial terms were not disclosed, but for Stern, the deal adds to a quickly growing sports tech portfolio that also includes personal investments in companies such as LiveLike VR, automated sports video production firm Keemotion, and artificial intelligence firm StatMuse, among others. “They’ve extended the broadcast and made it a social experience,” Stern said of Sportcastr.Live. “It has enormous potential. ... It’s going to give an experience of both broadcasting the game and enjoying with friends.”
