In Baton Rouge, Mark Ballard reported Louisiana state Rep. Cedric Glover created a bill that would "forbid LSU and UL-Lafayette from renewing the contracts with local brewers" when current sponsorships expire. Glover: "Why would we have wanted to officially license and brand and tie an alcoholic beverage to a school?" He added that given "ongoing efforts to combat underage drinking on college campuses and all the problems that follow excessive alcohol use, while at the same time endorsing an 'official beer' sends a conflicting message" (Baton Rouge ADVOCATE, 4/17).
