Vitali Smart Bra Works To Monitor, Reduce Women’s Stress

There is no better feeling at the end of a long day or a particularly grueling workout than taking off your bra. Bras, especially sports bras, are constricting and just plain uncomfortable. The Vitali Smart Bra is aiming to combat that discomfort by creating a bra that tracks breathing, posture and heart rate variability (HRV) so that the wearer can monitor her well-being and stress levels.

The bra – which comes in black and white – has a small white sensor that is sewn in above the right breast. The sensor is called a GEM and it is what recognizes the breathing patterns and gives the wearer real-time feedback. The GEM can be removed for washing the bra.

Customers can download the Vitali app to track the progress that the bra is mapping. When the Vitali bra notices that a woman’s HRV getting low, the app will ping, reminding the woman to take a deep breath. The idea is that stress manifests in the body before it actually reaches the mind. By monitoring the body’s stress signals, women can prevent increased stress levels.

Vitali is currently crowdsourcing for funding on Kickstarter. As of Monday morning, it had raised $33,300 of its $50,000 goal.
