Chinese Smartphone Brand Vivo Features Warriors' Stephen Curry In New Ad Campaign

Warriors G Stephen Curry has signed to endorse Chinese smartphone company Vivo, a brand most people "probably haven't heard of," according to Angela Doland of AD AGE. Curry in a print ad from Fred & Farid, Shanghai, "trades his basketball for a Vivo Xplay 6." Vivo has a "deal with the NBA in China," and commercials featuring Curry will "air in China and the Philippines too." Fred & Farid Partner & Exec Creative Dir Feng Huang said Vivo chose Curry "to upgrade its image in China, to go more premium with an international touch." Donald noted Vivo's partnership with Curry also "includes a special edition phone with a blue and yellow body, his team colors." He is "plugging that on his social channels in China, giving one away with his signature on the back" (ADAGE.com, 4/14).
