Ticketmaster Adds Greg Economou, Giving Him Oversight Over Pro, College Sports Operations

Ticketmaster has hired industry vet GREG ECONOMOU as its Head of Sports for North America & Chief Commercial Officer, a newly created role that gives him oversight of the ticketing giant's operations in both pro and college sports. Economou, who has had stints with Dick Clark Productions, MSG, the Bobcats and NBA, will report to Ticketmaster North America President JARED SMITH and be based in the company's L.A. HQ. The addition of Economou extends a period of recent senior leadership change for Ticketmaster. Former CRO COLE GAHAGAN left last fall for Fanatics, while former ScoreBig Chief Commercial Officer DAVID MARCUS joined in February to lead Ticketmaster's music operations. “We’re looking to develop an even more consultative relationship with our clients, and Greg’s the ideal person to deepen those ties,” Smith said. “He’s obviously been on the other side of the table, and has a clear idea of what the needs are for teams and leagues.” Economou will also have responsibility for Ticketmaster's industry sales and marketing, and he arrives as the company is developing an extensive series products and services, including new sales and account management tools for both single-game and season tickets. “This is an incredibly transformative time for ticketing, and I’m very excited to apply the things I’ve learned at the prior stops in my career,” Economou said.
