Yokohama DeNA BayStars’ Bullpen Car Is Electric Nissan Leaf With Zero Emissions

The Nissan Leaf electric car has been announced as the official bullpen car for baseball games at Yokohama Stadium.

Featuring zero CO2 emissions, the Leaf will represent Nissan Intelligent Mobility as it takes relief pitchers to the mound beginning this spring thanks to a new sponsorship agreement with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars.

Nissan returns to Yokohama Stadium after nearly two decades. Nissan cars like the Be-1 and S-Cargo were used bullpen cars there in the 1990s right around the time they disappeared from Major League Baseball. Bullpen cars are still used in Japan, and now they

“We are very pleased to be returning to Yokohama Stadium, which is a symbol of the city where Nissan was founded,” Nissan senior vice president Asako Hoshino said in a statement. “We are excited to support the BayStars, who are set to deliver a strong person this year, through this sponsorship program.”

Introduced in 2010, the Leaf is the world’s best-selling electric vehicle and has strong ties to the city of Yokohama and Kanagawa prefecture, where Nissan is based.

Nissan has goals of zero emissions and zero fatalities on the road by developing technologies including electric vehicles and autonomous driving.
