Red Sox Fans Get First Look At Fenway Park Renovations During Today's Matchup

Red Sox fans will "get their first taste of the renovated" Fenway Park on Opening Day today as the team takes on the Pirates, according to Meredith Gorman of the BOSTON HERALD. A new bar -- Tully Tavern -- has been "added and the famous Pesky Pole has been restored, both in the right field area." The Tully Tavern, created in partnership with Tullamore DEW Irish whiskey, has "tables with charging stations." Virtual reality games, a new video board and new protective netting have "gone up and the dugouts have been expanded." Boston Mayor Martin Walsh said, "The way they do it without disrupting the shrine -- it’s incredible." Red Sox President Sam Kennedy said, "This year’s offseason improvements were large, about $10 million." Kennedy said that the team has spent over $300M "renovating Fenway Park" since '02 (BOSTON HERALD, 4/1). Walsh said that Kennedy "sits down with him after the season ends and they talk through potential changes." Walsh: "It's really a partnership and there's no surprises." In Massachusetts, Gintautas Dumcius noted the third floor club space at Fenway has been "renamed the Dell/EMC Club to reflect the companies' merger" (MASSLIVE.com, 3/31).
