MLSE Plans On Entering Raptors Team In NBA's New E-Sports 2K League For '18 Season

MLSE "plans to begin" a Raptors e-sports team, and the decision comes "months after the NBA said it would partner with Take-Two Interactive Software ... to produce the NBA 2K eLeague," according to Rick Westhead of TSN.ca. The NBA’s new league is "scheduled to begin" in January '18. A source said that it "set a buy-in for teams of $250,000, which MLSE will pay." The Raptors, like other NBA teams, "will pay players’ salaries." The Raptors’ e-sports players "will be housed by MLSE during the season." The roster, like others in the league, "will feature five players." MLSE officials have "been eyeing the sector for several years" (TSN.ca, 3/31).
