Executive Transactions

The Chargers hired JOSH RUPPRECHT as VP/PR, reporting to President of Football Operations JOHN SPANOS and President of Business Operations A.G. SPANOS. Rupprecht comes to the Chargers from UCLA, where for the past four years he was Senior Associate AD/Communications. Previously, he spent 13 years in the Lakers' PR department. The Chargers said that one of Rupprecht’s roles will be to assist with the team’s integration into the L.A. market. He starts April 10 (John Ourand, Staff Writer).

COLLEGE TRANSFER: Loyola Univ. Assistant VP & AD JIM PAQUETTE will step down in June to pursue new opportunities in collegiate athletics and higher education. Paquette has served in his role since '10 (Loyola). It is "pretty well-known that Paquette would have his name in the mix" to be Boston College's new AD. He previously spent 16 years at the school. BC AD BRAD BATES is "stepping down in June" (SBNATION.com, 3/24).

SAYING GOODBYE: WADA Senior Media Relations & Communications Manager BEN NICHOLS is set to leave his role in mid-May after four years at the organization's Montreal HQ. Nichols oversaw Media Relations during the most challenging time in the organization's 17-year history; a period which spanned the tenures of previous President JOHN FAHEY, current President CRAIG REEDIE and both the DICK POUND and RICHARD MCLAREN investigations into widespread doping in sport. Nichols also has held roles as Chief Press Officer of the ATP and WTA Dubai Tennis Championships. Nichols in May will return to the U.K. (Ben Fischer, Staff Writer). 

EXECS: Law firm Mintz Levin named Gordon & Rees National Sports, Media & Entertainment Law Practice Chair ANTHONY MULRAIN a member of its litigation and sports law practices in the N.Y. office (Mintz Levin)....NHRA Dir of Competition STEVE GIBBS last week "unexpectedly stepped away from a 48-year association with the sport" (INLAND VALLEY DAILY BULLETIN, 3/24)....Indianapolis-based marketing agency Charge named MainGate Sales Coordinator KYLE GINTY Event Coordinator (Charge)....Fordham Univ. named GENYOUth Foundation Senior VP/Business Development EDWARD KULL Senior Dir of Development and Senior Associate AD (Fordham)....Syracuse Univ. named former Univ. at Buffalo AD BOB ARKEILPANE Exec Dir of Athletics Development (Syracuse).
