Cost Of Success: Blackhawks Raising Season-Ticket Prices For Eighth Consecutive Year

The Blackhawks notified season-ticket holders last week that prices "will rise" by an average of 4% for the '17-18 season, the "eighth consecutive year the team has raised its season-ticket prices," according to Danny Ecker of CRAIN'S CHICAGO BUSINESS. The hike will bring the average to nearly $94 for Blackhawks games at the United Center. On a percentage basis, it is "the smallest season-ticket hike the Hawks have levied" since their run of Stanley Cup titles began in '10. However, it makes the team "one of the priciest season tickets in the NHL and doubles what fans paid before the price increases began." Single-game ticket prices will be "revealed at a later date." In a letter to season-ticket holders, Blackhawks VP/Ticket Operations & Customer Relations Chris Werner "highlighted the team's on-ice accomplishments this season and the United Center's new amenities while introducing the price hike" (CHICAGOBUSINESS.com, 3/14).
