NHL Wants To Bring ASG, Entry Draft To Rogers Place Once Ice District Completed

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has "virtually guaranteed" the NHL would bring both the All-Star Game and NHL Draft to the Oilers' Rogers Place in Edmonton "as soon as the Ice District is completed," according to Terry Jones of the EDMONTON JOURNAL. Bettman said, "I believe we should have a draft here. I believe we should have an all-star game here. But I would like to see the entire Ice District complete because when we do that, we want to show off the Ice District to the world." Bettman said Rogers Place is "nothing short of phenomenal." Bettman: "It's better than I ever imagined. ... The way it’s put together is ingenious. The way it has been created and crafted, it has everything imaginable. The finishing touches, the way it flows, the sight lines, I can’t say enough good things about it. When you see the entire Ice District, you can see it’s going to be transformational for Edmonton for decades to come." Bettman: "One of the things I love about it is that I can see features from our other new arenas in here and I can see features I’ve never seen before and they were put together in a way that you come here and you feel good about being here. You see how it flows and you can see the different ways you can experience it with all the different seating features and the amenities" (EDMONTON JOURNAL, 3/15).
